Luncheon Discussion: Education, a Key Determinant for Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases
07 July 2011, Geneva
On the occasion of the High Level Segment meeting of the ECOSOC in Geneva, whose theme this year was Education, the IFPMA held a luncheon discussion on the link between education and NCD prevention. The event convened key policy makers from the Geneva diplomatic community and organizations involved in the NCD discussions at the UN level. The official program included a presentation of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) campaign on NCD prevention, and a case study on the E-diabetes program, an innovative initiative to train health professionals in Africa about diabetes care supported by Sanofi. The numerous interventions focused on innovative solutions to facilitate behavioural changes towards risk factors, with an emphasis on younger populations.
