In parallel to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) High-level Segment meeting, IFPMA organized a Ministerial Breakfast Roundtable together with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to discuss how mobile technologies are changing the healthcare and health-management context for NCDs and providing the global community with new opportunities for prevention and control. The discussions looked at: 1) using mobile technology to improve the daily lives of people everywhere, 2) addressing impeding factors and developing approaches that works at scale, 3) securing inter-sectoral partnerships and sharing lessons learned, 4) achieving sustainability through government ownership and leadership. Some key participants in attendance were ITU Secretary General Dr. Hamadouni Touré, WHO ADG Dr. Oleg Chestnov, several capital officials and ambassadors and leading representatives from the private sector.
