Fighting for what counts: Leveraging the power of collaboration to end HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria

By IFPMA

This report was prepared between June and August 2022 by Acumen Public Affairs, with substantial contributions by IFPMA staff and members.

Twenty years ago, the prospect of controlling and eliminating HIV, TB, and malaria was uncertain. Yet, since 2002, health investments through the Global Fund have managed to halve the total mortality of these three diseases, saving more than 44 million lives.

This report highlights the urgent need to get HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria programs back on track after the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to reinforce health systems strengthening and future pandemic preparedness.

We are grateful to all partners and stakeholders that provided comments, insights, and quotes to this report, in particular Kirsten Arendse, Jeff Bernson, Kelly Chibale, Lucica Ditiu, Yacine Djibo, Corine Karema, Trish Devine Karlin, Prabha Mahesh, Martha Clara Nakato, Ndifanji Melia Namacha, David Reddy, Kuldeep Singh Sachdeva, Sheila Tlou, and Pietro Turilli.
