Amid the current global health crisis, there is growing urgency on the discussions around Universal Health Coverage (UHC), pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPR), and ending the Tuberculosis (TB) epidemic.

On 8-9 May, as member states discussed the zero drafts of the UHC, PPR and TB declarations and resolutions ahead of endorsement by heads of state at the UN High-Level Meeting in September 2023, we hosted an event with Foreign Policy to address this question: How can we foster a sustainable and thriving innovation ecosystem for healthcare that supports UHC, better pandemic preparedness, and help end TB?

The conversation will explored the critical role of innovation, and how public and private actors can share efforts and work in partnership to strengthen health systems and improve access to medicines and vaccines. The event allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of the links between UHC, PPR and TB and engage in a discussion on the role of a sustainable and thriving global health innovation ecosystem in reaching more people worldwide.

This event was underpinned by new research from FP Analytics, FP’s independent research division, which resulted in an issue brief. The issue brief is available online or in PDF format.
